Original request : So you're doing requests? well mine is just a hurt/comfort one. it happens after the events of Monster High 2, so basically Draculaura has been quiet lately and Clawdeen is determined to find out what's bothering her. you can turn it into a DraculauraxClawdeen story if you want, I don't mind
Chronology : Post-movie 2
Headcanon : Clawdeen has ADHD
After Draculaura returned to school and everything settled down, Clawdeen noticed that she had become a lot quieter than she was before.
Granted, she'd always been the least outgoing of the friend group, but it was still a fairly dramatic difference.
At first, Clawdeen assumed the girl just needed some space. After all, she'd gone through a pretty traumatic experience with the Salem Coven and probably just needed some time to process and recover.
However, as time passed, it became more and more apparent that this wasn't as temporary as the werewolf initially thought. Still, she didn't want to make Draculaura uncomfortable by bringing it up too directly.
"So..." she started a bit awkwardly, fiddling with the edge of the table that stood in the middle of the dorm. Draculaura was at her side of the room, just working on a class assignment, and Frankie was out doing lord knows what. "How've you been?"
"What are you talking about?" Draculaura replied perhaps a bit too defensively, turning to the half-human, who suddenly seemed very interested in the ceiling. "I'm fine"
"Are you, though?" Clawdeen questioned. Whoops, she thought as she heard the words come out of her mouth. So much for not being too direct. Well, might as well own it. "You've been really quiet ever since you came back from the Salem Coven"
"Has it crossed your mind that maybe I just don't want to talk to you?" Draculaura bit, then immediately regretted it. None of what she was feeling was Clawdeen's fault. Hell, if it weren't for Clawdeen nearly dying to save her, who knows what horrible position they'd be in at this point. "Sorry, I didn't actually mean that. I'm sorry"
"It's fine" Clawdeen dismissed. She'd learned pretty quickly with Draculaura not to take stuff like that too personally. If Draculaura was actually upset with her, she usually communicated that pretty clearly and reasonably. "But something is definitely wrong"
"Yeah" the vampire sighed. "I just... It's silly"
"If it's making you upset, it's not silly"
"I just... I feel weird practicing my witchcraft now" she explained. "I mean, I still do it, but after everything with the Salem Coven-"
"That wasn't your fault" Clawdeen cut her off firmly. "You were used and lied to by people who were dishonest about who they really were. I mean, didn't you and Ellis connect over something that he was lying about?"
"...Yeah" she shrugged. "I don't know. I know rationally that it's not my fault and that I was just trying to do good, but it's hard to deal with" she explained. "If it weren't for you, Clawdeen, things would've turned out really rough"
"But they didn't" Clawdeen smiled. "And witchcraft isn't banned here anymore"
"People still don't trust it"
"It's new" Clawdeen reasoned. "People need to adjust, especially people like Toralei who have been hurt by it" she went on. "But it's a good change"
"Yeah. It is" Draculaura agreed. Silence passed between the pair for a moment. "Thank you, again, for saving me"
"Well I owed you one for helping me last year"
"I don't know if 'help' is exactly the right word considering everything that happened with Komos"
"You were still there for me when no one else was" she said. "Well, except Frankie, of course, but it's... Different with you" she said vaguely. Draculaura stared at her for a moment. They both knew full well what she meant by different, but neither had dared speak it into existence prior to that point.
"Yeah" Draculaura smiled. "Different"
"Different"
"Yup"
...
"Okay, I'm gonna go to the bathroom" Clawdeen spoke, flustered. Draculaura couldn't help but notice the girl's hands were turning more human and she was sure her own face was probably as red as Clawdeen's had become.
"Have fun with that"
"I- Uh- Yeah" Clawdeen sputtered, running to the door. "Bye"
Draculaura chuckled and shook her head as the door slammed shut. Things were going to be okay. She was sure of that now. Because she had Clawdeen.
And that was a good different.
