Background relationship : Patti/Francy
"We did a good job today, guys" Nikki said with a proud smile as her and the rest of the workers arrived back at the salon. "It was kind of a mess, actually" Robert retaliated, getting a small chuckle from Janet. Nikki looked incredibly offended, but the truth was there. That play had been a fucking train wreck.
"Considering the fact that Nikki got translated into a donkey right beforehand, I think we did okay" Terry chimed in. "The proper word is transformed" Patti corrected, visibly exhausted from the whole ordeal. "And yes, Robert is correct" she continued. "That could've gone a lot better"
"Could've gone a lot worse!" Franci countered with a smirk. Patti was quick to look away, not wanting the others to see the blush that came over her face. No one really cared either way though. Everyone was kind of tired.
"I understand we are all tired, but we need some people to stay overtime and tidy up around here" Patti explained, glancing around the salon. It wasn't horrendously untidy or anything, but it also wasn't exactly neat. "Any volunteers?"
Janet shot Robert a glance, to which he nodded in understanding before speaking up. "Me and Janet can stay" he offered. "Good on you two" Terry gave them a thumbs up and a yawn. Everyone kinda looked like they were seconds away from keeling over. They all needed rest, so they said their goodbyes and left the salon.
About an hour later, Robert and Janet completed the cleaning they needed to do and found themselves sitting around, just talking about the performance and shit-talking Nikki.
"She's so fucking dramatic" Janet said with a small chuckle. "Right!?" Robert agreed. "And for no reason too. Like if she had a lick of talent, I could sort of get why she's so show-offy but she makes me look like a lead Broadway actor" he said with slight exasperation in his voice, getting a small chuckle from his friend.
"That performance was such a mess" she said with a nervous chuckle. "Yeah..." Robert agreed, looking at the floor and triple-checking to make sure that there was no more mess. Patti would probably be a bit cranky the next day because of how tired she was, so he wanted to make sure they got everything.
"I feel like I made a fool of myself" Janet said after a moment, nervously scratching at the back of her neck. "How do you mean?" Robert asked. It'd be easier to ease her nerves if he knew the thought process behind them. It's not like this was the first time they had this kind of conversation.
"During the opening speech" the manicure specialist elaborated. "I was so nervous, and Patti kept having to shout things at me during it just so I could get through it" she explained, feeling a sense of guilt form in her stomach. Robert let out a big exhale before rolling his chair over to where she was and placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Here's the thing, Janet" he started, getting her to look at him. "Was it perfect? No. But that's nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing about that play was perfect, except for me because I'm awesome" Janet chuckled at that. "The point I'm making..." Robert continued. "Is that nothing about that was perfect, so a small blunder from you didn't ruin the show, and the audience seemed to love it anyway"
"Yeah..." Janet replied with a relieved sigh. "I guess that makes sense. Thanks, Robert" she said with a smile that Robert soon returned. "Anytime, Janet" he responded, giving her a small hug.
"Now, can we please get out of here? My foot still hurts from when Nikki stepped on it and I think I pulled something in my shoulders when I was holding up the pole"
