Ed always got a bit clingy when he was sick.
Thankfully for him, Essie found it to be one of the many endearing things about him. It always made her sad when she saw men like Mr. Kirby who seemed completely closed off to the idea of being vulnerable. She was glad that none of the men in her family were like that. She was glad Ed wasn't like that.
"I could really use a hug right about now" Ed said in a drawling voice as he lied in bed miserably. He'd come down with an illness- Nothing severe, just a bit of a fever and some congestion- And he'd been extra whiney in a way that Essie thought was cute. She chuckled and wrapped an arm around him, smiling as he clung to her further.
"Does this suffice?" she asked. Ed hummed in consideration for a moment before nodding, a big smile forming on his face. She leaned over and kissed him on the forehead, not minding the unnatural warmness his skin had. "I'm glad"
"I love you" Ed muttered, closing his eyes contently.
"I love you too, Ed"
