Prompt : Aftermath
Chronology : Post-Movie 2
Background relationship : Deuce/Clawdeen (mentioned, on a break)
Headcanons : Clawdeen and Toralei both have chronic pain from their scars, Lesbian!Toralei, Bi!Clawdeen
Author's note : Honestly the most frustrating part of this movie was the fact that Frankie could've taken off one of their hands and just thrown it at Draculaura and then Clawdeen wouldn't have gotten hurt which they easily could've done cause they were RIGHT THERE, but because plot reasons Clawdeen did it anyway and the writers couldn't just come up with an excuse for why Frankie would be unavailable. Like seriously all they would've had to do was have them dealing with some other problem that would keep them away from the cage but instead they just end up looking fucking stupid because they're just standing there doing nothing while Clawdeen is torturing herself with the cage. ANYWAYS, none of that is important to this fic I just needed to get that out.
Clawdeen had tried to ignore the ever-present pain in her arm from the scarring she acquired from the wraith silver cage, but it was getting increasingly harder to ignore. Hell, she'd almost died- Some pain should've been nothing more than an inconvenience to her.
Why was it so bad she could barely breathe?
She knew it was past curfew, but that was never too strict. She could still visit another nearby dorm room, surely. With this thought in mind, she crept out of bed and went to leave. She stopped before opening the door, though. If Frankie or Draculaura woke because of the sound of the door, she didn't want either of them to worry and follow her, so she hastily wrote out a note saying she was just headed to the bathroom and put it on the door before leaving.
The halls were a little bit confusing to navigate so she swallowed her pride and asked the school to aid her in finding the place she needed to go, which it did. Before she knew it, she was standing outside of Toralei's dorm room.
Now that she was here, she didn't really know what to do. Does she knock? She didn't have much time to think about it before the door opened to reveal a still very much awake Toralei.
"I can smell you, Wolf" she said quietly, stepping out into the hall and shutting the door behind her. She was in her night clothes and Clawdeen couldn't help but think she was seeing a side of the girl that she'd never intended. "What do you want?"
"I had a question"
"Okay, spit it out"
"Does your... Scar ever hurt?" Clawdeen asked and a heavy silence fell between the two of them. Toralei certainly hadn't been expecting the conversation to go in this direction and she frankly wasn't too fond of it.
"Yes" she answered solidly. "Rather often. Why?"
"Well, it's just that mine started hurting, and-"
"You were hoping to find someone who would get it" Toralei finished. Clawdeen nodded timidly. Another tense moment passed and then Toralei cracked a smile, which was weird. What was even weirder was that the smile wasn't one of mockery. No, it was... Relief? "Can we talk more about this in the bathroom?"
"Oh, yeah, sure"
Toralei quietly shut the bathroom door behind her and surveyed the room to make sure it was empty.
"In what way does it hurt?" she asked once she was satisfied, turning to the half-monster.
"It's like a burning, searing pain" Clawdeen explained. "Like someone's taking a bunch of hot rods and digging them into my skin. It's kinda what the wraith silver felt like but without the electrocuting feeling. I would know. Frankie's accidentally electrocuted me quite a few times"
"Oh, the burning is the worst" Toralei said. "And it's always when you're trying to work or sleep, but you can't cause suddenly the pain's just so bad that-"
"You can't breathe" they said in unison. They just stared at each other for a moment. Toralei suddenly felt less alone than she had since she'd first gotten hurt and Clawdeen was only now really paying attention to just how pretty the werecat's eyes were.
Before either of them could fully process what they were doing, their lips connected. After a moment, it was Toralei who pulled away in a panic, realizing what had happened.
"Um..." Clawdeen said awkwardly. "Sorry, I should-"
"Don't go" Toralei said before she could stop herself. The two went back to staring at each other. "I didn't... Hate that"
"I didn't either" Clawdeen admitted. A part of her felt guilty, but she and Deuce had never been exclusive and they already agreed they would be on a break while he went through the Gorgodian. "I'm just... I don't know"
"Yeah" Toralei said, suddenly desperate to escape the situation. "Hey, uh, text me, yeah? I have some tricks and ways to help with the pain if it gets too bad"
"Will do" Clawdeen nodded. "Thanks, Toralei"
The werecat sprinted from the bathroom, leaving Clawdeen to contemplate what the hell just happened.
