Chronology : Post-canon Warning : References to concentration camps and Nazism Background relationship : Sally/Cliff (mentioned)
Emcee had been such a constant in everyone's lives that, when he was gone, the Kit Kat Klub felt indescribably empty.
Sally reflected on the argument she'd had with Cliff. He told her that she needed to care about politics. It seemed so trivial at the time and she couldn't fathom why he was taking it so seriously, especially considering he wasn't even German.
But now the Nazi party was inescapable, even to Emcee, who'd always seemed so untouchable.
No one at the club ever knew he was Jewish. She wondered how much work it took him to hide that fact about himself, only for it all to be thrown down the drain once the Nazis caught wind of it.
She looked over her Paris ticket and wondered if she ought to leave. She could track down Cliff and they could make up and be happy, just as she'd always wanted. It would be weird, to move to France and then America, but...
It felt wrong to stay in Berlin any longer.
