Title from : Cabaret from Cabaret (Kander & Ebb) Chronology : Leading into the titular song Warnings : Nazi Germany, political apathy in relation to the Nazi party Background relationships : Sally/Max (mentioned), Sally/Cliff (past) Author's note : This is NOT intended to imply that Sally is justified in her apathy towards the Nazi party or that Clifford was wrong for leaving her over that
Sally was alone again. This was always how it ended up, though, wasn't it?
Clifford was off to Paris, insisting that he couldn't be in Germany anymore all because of some political matter. Sally thought he was being rather overdramatic.
Here she was again, though. At the Kit Kat Klub, having her heart broken all over again by some guy who never wanted all of her, not really.
That was just the way of life, though, wasn't it? Her life, at least. She wasn't meant for love, and that should be fine. It had to be fine.
She was welcomed back with open arms to the club at the small price of an adventurous night with Max. She tried to ignore Clifford's voice in her head. Those words he said to her with such venom.
"When are you going to admit that the only way you ever got this job, any job, was by fucking someone!?"
No matter. He was a silly American at the end of the day. What did he know about her or her life or her happiness?
"Life is a cabaret, old chum, and I love a cabaret"
