Robert and Janet were very affectionate with each other, especially ever since Robert transitioned. He'd become much more confident now that the world knew who he was, and with that he also got more comfortable with the more touchy aspects of he and Janet's friendships. The other salon crew workers had even asked a few times if the two were maybe a bit more than friends, to which Janet politely denied the claim and Robert just rolled his eyes, saying how he "wasn't really a relationships kinda guy"
They were staying at work late, and the others had gone home. This was routine for the pair, staying at the salon far after the work hours were up and the rest of their team had returned to their own places. It helped Janet to calm down after a day full of nervousness and it was the only time Robert could fully be himself without Patti or Franci poking fun at him.
The both of them sat in the corner of the salon. Robert was leaning against the pink-haired girl, who was taking deep breaths. Robert was the one person who she didn't feel anxious around, and she appreciated that about him. Robert was playing with a new fidget toy he'd gotten. The only sounds in the room were their breaths and the clicks of the toy.
"I love you, Jan" Robert said once the other girl had calmed down. She couldn't help the smile that came to her face.
"I love you too, Robert"
