Full title on AO3 : I Think We May Be Traumatized
Requested by : SamanthaQuarrie on AO3
Original request : Okay! well my next one is also after the second movie, so basically Draculaura, Clawdeen and Frankie are all plagued by nightmares and after they wake up they talk about the Salem Coven incident -Draculaura's nightmare would be about being forced to watch herself say the spell and watching Clawdeen almost die saving her -Clawdeen's nightmare would be about almost being taken by the Grim Reaper - Frankie's nightmare would be about trying to wake Clawdeen up but realizing she was dead - this is only one of my many requests!
Chronology : Post-Movie 2
Headcanons : All three of them have PTSD from the events of the second movie, Autistic!Frankie (if you squint)
The Salem Coven incident affected all three of them more than they even realized at first. Of course, they knew that it wasn't a good thing that had happened and they were all quite stressed in the immediate aftermath, but none of them properly realized that it would have long-lasting effects on their psyches.
However, one night in the days following the incident, their issues from the situation were made all too apparent when they least expected it.
When Draculaura opened her eyes, she was confused to find herself surrounded by bars. She reached out to try and grab onto them and pain jolted through her whole body.
Before she could wonder too much more about where she was, she spotted Ellis a yard or so away. Then she heard it. It was her own voice, chanting some sort of spell. No, she thought, becoming a bit panicked. No, I already dealt with this.
Suddenly, Clawdeen and Frankie were standing in front of her. Frankie was just watching as Clawdeen tried to pry apart the bars. She was dying and Draculaura couldn't even call out to stop her. She wanted to scream at Frankie to just take off a hand and throw it at her (which they didn't think to do in the moment because their brain was so clouded by panic), but she couldn't do that either.
Zamara's voice looped in her head, taunting her. Silly girl. This is your fault. Your friend is going to die because you were so gullible. She didn't know how much of it was real and how much was her imagination.
Suddenly, she jolted awake in her coffin with a gasp.
Clawdeen opened her eyes to find herself surrounded by complete darkness. She was a bit confused at first, but then the unmistakable, horrible pain burst through her arms and body. Her breathing picked up for a moment and then suddenly it all stopped.
She looked up to see a tall figure towering over her. He had a skeletal face and he had a giant scythe in his hand... Shit.
This didn't make sense. She'd survived. Why was he here again? It wasn't her time yet! Didn't he know that? Wasn't his entire job to know that? She couldn't go through this, not again...
She woke up safe in her dorm room at Monster High.
There was nothing and then suddenly Frankie was watching Clawdeen pull at the wraith silver bars, burning the shit out of her hands as she did so. She screamed in agony, the noise piercing Frankie's eardrums as they watched hopelessly.
If they weren't so gripped by the panic of the situation, they probably would've thought to take off an appendage and throw it through the bars to touch Draculaura and break the spell. They didn't think of that, though.
No, they were far too distracted by the horror of what Clawdeen was enduring. There was no way she could survive this much contact with the silver...
When she dropped to the floor, their heart dropped with her. They quickly caught her limp body and began to frantically beg for her to come back to them. She was the first friend they'd ever made and still their closest friend, even more so than Draculaura. They couldn't lose her.
When Frankie woke up, they quickly looked over at Clawdeen, reassured to find her still breathing. Maybe a bit too much, though.
Clawdeen seemed to be hyperventilating a bit. Frankie was about to ask if she was okay but was quickly interrupted by the sound of Draculaura's coffin door opening.
The vampire walked out with a terrified expression on her face. Those were all of the context clues Frankie needed to piece together what was happening.
They'd all had nightmares. All of them.
"I think Salem traumatized us" they spoke up, breaking the panicked, quiet air that had formed in the room. The two girls looked over at them. "You both also just had nightmares, right?" they asked, suddenly uncertain. Clawdeen and Draculaura nodded. "The only thing I can think of that would cause all of us to suddenly have nightmares is the Salem Coven situation. Mine was about Clawdeen dying"
"Mine was also about me dying" the werewolf replied. "Or, almost died, I guess. When I met the Grim Reaper"
"Mine was about being trapped in my body by that stupid trance" Draculaura told her two roommates. "I could see and hear everything, I just couldn't stop it"
"That's awful" Clawdeen said sympathetically. Draculaura didn't say anything. Neither did Frankie, at least for a moment. They were still focused on the situation at hand.
"...Do you suppose we should try and see the counselor about this?" they eventually asked. Neither of the girls replied. Therapy (or at least talking to a school counselor about it) didn't sound like an awful idea, but they also were both quite tired.
"We can worry about that in the morning" Clawdeen said after a moment. The other two monsters nodded.
"I don't think I can fall back asleep again" Draculaura told the both of them. They nodded and hummed in agreement.
"You guys wanna just... Talk?" Frankie suggested. Clawdeen smiled. Soon, Draculaura did as well, and the three quickly fell into a conversation about everything except the Salem Coven.
