Prompt : Fever
Chronology : Pre-canon
Robert felt so cold.
He wasn't, though. No, on the contrary, he was actually running a pretty bad fever. That had been happening a lot recently. But, he felt cold, as none of the air around him was quite as warm as he was, so it all felt frigid.
He had decided to run himself a bath (despite the fact that Catherine told him not to do so on his own) to try and warm up. When she heard the water running, her heart dropped and she quickly ran to make sure he wasn't about to drown in the tub.
She was relieved to see he was sitting in a ball, trying to make himself feel warm. The water was scalding but he didn't seem to be boiling alive, so she just let him be, stepping outside but still within earshot in case something happened.
He was shaking really badly, and every part of him that wasn't able to be submerged in the water felt like it was being frozen off his body. Eventually, when the water turned cool, he tried to add more heat, but that had all been used up, so he resigned himself to getting out of the bath.
As the water went away and the air hit his wet skin, his shakes intensified tenfold. It was so bad that he couldn't even force himself into a full standing position. He instead just stood in the tub, hunched over.
Suddenly, the shakes agitated his body so bad that he found himself throwing up. It was at that sound that Catherine ran in once more to see what was going on. She saw the small puddle of puke going past his feet to the drain and frowned.
"Are you stomach sick now, too?"
"No" Robert shook his head. "I'm just shaking so bad that it, that it came up" he explained. "I'm sorry" he whimpered. He felt so miserable. Catherine didn't fault him for it. Honestly, she was just glad he wasn't being as defiant as he typically had been over the past couple months.
"It's okay" she told him, holding out her hand. "Come on. We'll get you dried off as quick as possible so you can get dressed and lie down under a big blanket, okay?"
"Okay..."
