Disclaimer : I do not have DID so, while I have done a fair bit of research on it and therefore hopefully didn't do a TERRIBLE job, I apologize for any inaccuracies
Chronology : Post-canon
It was late by the time Darby and Tommy finally got home. Work had been a disaster, even more than usual. Darby's grandma Eleanor had accidentally killed herself with poison that was intended for Hadley, some lady named Nora had pulled a gun on everyone, and now the one chef they had at the theater was fired.
Despite her very warranted anger towards the woman, Darby had still lost her grandma. While it seemed that everyone else had wanted her dead anyways, Darby was too innocent for that. She loved her grandma above all else, and now she was gone.
"You okay?" Tommy asked, nervously scratching at the back of his neck as he and Darby sat down on their small living room couch. "Grandma is dead, Tommy" the girl replied solemnly. "That she is" Tommy confirmed with a small exhale as he leaned back and wrapped an arm around the waitress, allowing her to curl up against him. "But, hey" he continued, getting her attention. "At least it wasn't your fault"
"It doesn't matter if it was my fault or not!" Darby replied, exasperated. Tommy knew not to take her frustration personally. It wasn't about him, and she would never get pissed at him anyways. "The fact of the matter is that my grandma- One of the few people I have left- Is dead" she let out a sharp breath.
"You have Desmond" Tommy replied. "Desmond wanted her dead" Darby countered. "Everyone except us was wanting to kill her. She just beat them to it" she explained, trying to hide the fact that tears had sprung to her eyes. "Well..." Tommy continued. "You have me... And your headmate" he gestured to her forehead. "She's kind of annoying" Darby replied with a small chuckle as her protector gave an offended Hey!
"But, hey. Look at me" Tommy got the girl's attention again. "I'm here for you, and I'm not going anywhere. You can work through this, I'll be sure of it"
"Thanks, Tommy"
